Biography
Sok Vichea represents the new face of Cambodian striking — a fighter forged inside the structured Phnom Penh gym system rather than the village rings of earlier generations. He began training at twelve in a small camp near the Olympic Stadium, and by seventeen he was already a fixture on weekly Bayon TV broadcasts, where his polished footwork and unusually mature ring craft set him apart from his peers. His rise coincided with the international expansion of Kun Khmer through ONE Championship, and in 2023 he was added to the promotion's Kun Khmer roster, becoming one of the youngest Cambodian fighters to compete on a global pay-per-view stage. Vichea's training regimen reflects the modern professionalization of the sport: morning roadwork, structured strength and conditioning under a sports scientist, two technical sessions a day, and dedicated recovery and nutrition protocols. He is fluent in Khmer, conversational in English, and has become one of the most visible spokespeople for Kun Khmer abroad, regularly appearing in promotional content explaining Khmer terminology and Wai Kru ceremony to international audiences. His 2024 Fighter of the Year award recognized not only his perfect domestic record that year but his ambassadorial role in growing the sport's global footprint. He remains the reigning national lightweight champion and is widely expected to chase a major international title before the decade ends.

Signature Technique
Lead Switch Kick to Body
The Lead Switch Kick to Body is the defining weapon in Sok Vichea's arsenal. This technique, deeply rooted in the traditional Kun Khmer striking system, became synonymous with "The Modern Hammer" throughout their career.
Fighting Style
Vichea is a pressure-volume fighter built around a relentless lead switch kick to the body that wears opponents down before he closes into the clinch. He fights from a slightly bladed stance with a high tight guard, using stiff teep kicks to manage distance and quick check hooks to discourage rushers. His kicks are unusually fast for the lightweight division, delivered with a snapping motion learned from cross-training with Thai stylists, and he chains them into knee strikes whenever opponents try to clinch up. He is calm under fire and rarely fights emotionally.
Legacy
Sok Vichea embodies the modern professionalization of Kun Khmer — a fighter as comfortable on a sports science treadmill as he is performing the Wai Kru. His emergence on ONE Championship cards has helped establish a template for how Cambodian fighters can transition to international competition without abandoning their Khmer identity. Younger fighters across Phnom Penh's camps now train using methods modeled on his program, and his media presence has expanded the sport's international audience well beyond the traditional Southeast Asian base.
